Part VII Transfer
Transfer of insurance business from Domestic & General Insurance PLC to Domestic & General Insurance Europe AG
We are pleased to confirm that following a Sanction Hearing held on 15th December 2020, where the High Court of England and Wales approved the transfer of Domestic & General Insurance Plc's ("DGI") European insurance business (other than its UK business) to Domestic & General Insurance Europe AG (“DGIEU”) the transfer took effect on 31 December 2020 (the "Transfer"). A copy of the court order sanctioning the Transfer can be accessed here.
The Transfer was carried out by way of an insurance business transfer (governed by Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000). The Transfer was necessary to allow the D&G Group to be able to service and renew its existing European insurance business from 1st January 2021.
DGIEU is a member of the Domestic & General group of companies ("D&G") and an insurance company headquartered in Germany. DGIEU is authorised and regulated by the German financial services regulator BaFin. For policyholders, the terms and conditions of your policy(ies) (including your premium) will not change, the process by which you make a claim under your policy(ies) will not change and any outstanding claims you may have will continue to be handled in the same way by the same people.
